Why hire a photo editor?

As a fellow portrait and wedding photographer, I understand wanting to edit your own work. It's all part of the creative process, right? Why would you want to outsource this work?

Well, when you are amid a busy season, burnout is common. Days and evenings are spent capturing thousands upon thousands of images that you now need to cull, edit, and deliver...Wouldn't it be lovely to instead send the culled gallery to someone else who will edit the images just as you would? I mean, what would you do with all of that free time...relax and recharge?

As a photo editor who is also a photographer, I have over a decade's worth of editing experience. I also have worked in marketing and magazine publishing and have developed an eye for detail, styling, and composition. Your images are edited with consideration not only for your editing style but also for the story you tell with each image in relation to the collective story of the gallery.

Let's get technical

When editing, I use Adobe Lightroom and REFINED Co presets. I also have and am familiar with other presets, if you use others. For every image, I begin with a thorough hand edit focusing on exposure, white balance, and color theory. I also provide image straightening, cropping, and masking, when requested. Throughout my career, I have owned a variety of camera bodies from different brands (Nikon, Sony, Fuji, and Canon). I am familiar with the differences that each brand lends to images and take these nuances into consideration when working with your files.

The process

I try to keep this process as seamless as possible and will share with you how to send your files to me during our initial Zoom call. In short, I'll simply need a Lightroom catalog with smart previews. If you are not familiar with Lightroom catalog sharing, I will walk you through the steps.
